New IR Pass lens

Saturday, 14 June, 2008 § 2 Comments

Well in my recent testing i found out the IR bandpass lenses i bought were to narrow for my setup…. so therefore i got a new lens from Omega labs’s ebay store. The lens i got was a 880BP86 it is a much wider frequency pass to allow more of the IR emitters light to pass through at the same time block light from the visual spectrum. however since is a wider BP filter i fear that more noise will be detected by the ccd chip from natural light… but further tests will reveal that.

Any results? Considering purchasing one of these…

I currently use a 940nm with a 10nm range and feel like it’s not letting enough light through.

I’d like to know a little more and see how this one performed at eliminating the projectors hot spot.

Hey paul, this is far better than than 880nm +-12nm range but im not full satisfied with this, i think the best option would be to go with a +-40~50nm range. and since im using an LCD projector i dont have a hot spot as such. Also if you are having a lot of hotspot issues you could get a hot mirror… this seller has them as well. I haven’t need to purchase one but i know others have.

The Omega labs seller is nice guy just message him with the specifications you need and he’ll search for a filter for your requirements. If you do purchase from him tell him i sent you.
